Terms of Service

The short version. Tonight's Note is free. The paid programs are a workspace plus someone asking whether you did the thing. They are accountability, not therapy or professional advice. You must be 18 or over. Refunds follow the refund policy. Ontario law applies.

1. Agreement

These Terms are a contract between you and Arkans Corporation, an Ontario company operating as Alfred's Note ("we", "us"). By using alfredsnote.com, joining the waitlist, or buying a program, you agree to them, and to the Privacy Policy, the Refund Policy, and, if you take part in the draw, the Draw Rules. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

2. The service

Tonight's Note: a free one-page record, as a PDF and a Notion page.
The First Ten: seven days of the program below, with a personal voice note each night from the person behind Alfred's Note. Ten places, offered by draw.
Seven Days with Alfred: a Notion workspace you copy into your own account, an email each night at the hour you choose, and a recorded voice note matched to the day and your answer.

Longer programs may be offered later and will be described on the site when they open. Programs are one-time purchases. Nothing renews automatically.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old. By using Alfred's Note you confirm that you are.

4. Your access

If you buy a program, we send a sign-in link to the email address you paid with. There is no password. Keep that inbox secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used your link. Give us an address you can actually receive mail at: the program runs by email.

5. Not professional advice

Alfred's Note is an accountability service. It is not therapy, counselling, medical care, financial advice, legal advice, or career advice, and nobody at Alfred's Note is acting as your therapist, doctor, or adviser. Voice notes, emails, and videos are one person's opinion and experience. You are responsible for your own decisions and their results.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact a professional or emergency services. In Canada and the United States you can call or text 988 at any hour.

6. No promised results

We don't promise that you will reach any goal, income, fitness level, or outcome. What we provide is a structure and a question each night. The doing is yours.

7. Payment

Prices are in US dollars and are shown before you pay. Payment is taken by Stripe; we never receive your card details. Any sales taxes that apply are shown at checkout. Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy.

8. What you may do with the materials

Tonight's Note is free to use, print, and share, unchanged and with its credit line.

When you buy a program you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use its workspace, emails, and recordings for yourself. You may not resell, republish, or share paid materials, or use them to build a competing product.

9. What you write

What you write stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run your program. For The First Ten, that includes the person behind Alfred's Note reading your nightly line in order to reply. We will never quote or publish anything you tell us without your permission. If you choose to review a program publicly, please say what you paid for it.

10. Acceptable use

Don't sign up other people without their consent.
Don't attempt to break, overload, scrape, or bypass the security of the site.
Don't send us unlawful, threatening, or abusive material.
Don't use automated means to enter the draw or create multiple entries.

We may block access or end a program, without refund where the law allows, if these rules are broken.

11. Availability

We run the service with care, on a best-effort basis. Emails can be delayed or filtered by your mail provider, and third-party services we depend on can fail. For The First Ten, personal replies are recorded within a set evening window in Toronto time and a reply may occasionally arrive the next day. If we fail to deliver a program you paid for, the remedy is in the Refund Policy.

12. Third-party services

The service relies on Notion, Stripe, Cloudflare, Supabase, and Resend. Your use of Notion and Stripe is also subject to their own terms. We aren't responsible for their outages or decisions.

13. Our intellectual property

The Alfred's Note name, site design, text, recordings, videos, and templates belong to Arkans Corporation or are used with permission. Except for the licences in section 8, nothing here gives you rights in them.

14. Ending

You can stop at any time by unsubscribing or writing to us. Sections that by their nature should survive, including 5, 6, 13, and 15 to 18, continue after your use ends.

15. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT WILL PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR RESULT.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or CAD $50 if you paid nothing.

Some places, including under Ontario's consumer protection law, don't allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded or limited. Where that's so, these limits apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

17. Indemnity

You agree to cover our reasonable costs if a third party makes a claim against us because you broke these Terms or the law in your use of the service.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the courts of Ontario, sitting in Toronto, unless consumer protection law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

19. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. Your continued use after the change means you accept the new Terms. A program you already bought is governed by the Terms in force when you bought it.
